Young Driver Assist Program

The YDA program supplies the vehicle and driving supervision for young people who may not have access to a suitable vehicle or fully licensed person to take them driving. Eligibility for participation in the Young Driver Assist Program is dependent on the following criteria:
- A strong possibility of gaining employment
- Improving independence and personal esteem
- Lowered chance of being involved in risk taking behaviours
- Participation in education
- Increased motivation
The Program is available for young people who are disadvantaged through:
- No access to a car or family member/guardian to gain the required 120 hours of supervised driving
- Financial hardship
Young People who have met the following pre-requirements:
- Hold a current learners drivers licence
- Aged between 16 - 24
- Have been referred from local youth organisations, schools or members of the public
Client referrals will be accepted and approved based on the resources of the Young Driver Assist program and availability of volunteers.
Clients are asked to make a donation for petrol used. The YDA program uses the invaluable help of volunteers from the community to be driving supervisors for learner drivers in the program. Driving volunteers are required to hold a current full drivers licence. They must have a satisfactory driving history and be willing to undergo a working with children check before commencement.
